A message from Mark Blair - CEO

To our customers,

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is having a significant impact on the world and now on South Africa. On Sunday evening, President Ramaphosa declared a national state of disaster, “a measure proportionate to the severity of the threat to our people, to our society and to our economy.”

As a business that connects with millions of South Africans, we feel the responsibility to respond in a manner that meets the level of urgency that the President has requested. We are committed to rallying together with all citizens to protect the wellbeing of our nation. This is aligned with our Group’s value of partnership, which is the only way that we can collectively overcome this challenge to our country.

We have already put into action a number of key plans to minimise the threat of this virus and to ensure the safety of our people and our customers.
We have implemented the following in our stores:

  • hand sanitisers to be made available to all stores for both our people and customers to utilise
  • increased the frequency and intensity of cleaning practices in high density and common use areas
  • ensured that all equipment is wiped down and cleaned frequently within the store
  • encouraged regular hand cleaning when handling cash and facilitating other transaction methods
  • informed our staff of effective social distancing methods to be used within the store

It is important that our people are equipped with all the necessary information relating to the virus and what precautionary measures to take. Information and awareness material are shared with our stores regularly to ensure both their safety and yours. This information is guided by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Communicable Disease (NICD).

We have implemented similar sanitisation measures at our Head Office facility in Durban.
Additionally, we have:

  • banned all international and local travel
  • implemented self-isolation periods for returning travellers
  • limited the amount of people attending social gatherings and meetings
  • encouraged working from home where possible
  • enforced strict access control to all external partners visiting our buildings

We are doing all we can to ensure that your store experience leaves you feeling comfortable and confident. All our stores and operations are continuing as usual. For your convenience, don’t forget that you can also shop online. Should you have any questions you can contact Customer Care at [email protected]

Our business is centred around you and we are deeply grateful for your loyalty and passion for our brand.
In the words of our President, “This too shall pass. We shall overcome. We are South Africans.”

Kind regards,

Mark Blair CEO

Mr Price Group online delivery service during COVID-19:

We have already put into action a number of key plans to minimise the threat of this virus and to ensure the safety of our people and our customers. Here are some changes that are currently being implemented.

Stock and availability
We have seen a large increase in orders during this period. We are doing everything we can to restock items that are selling fast, updating stock regularly and making sure you have the best possible shopping experience.

Order Processing
Several precautionary measures have been taken to mitigate the impact of the spread of the virus during order fulfillment and to ensure the safety of you, our customer. These include:

  • All warehouse staff are to be screened with a digital forehead thermometer before entering the property. Individuals who do not “pass” the test will not be allowed to enter.
  • Day to day work scheduling will follow a staggered approach and will, where possible, limit the number of staff to 100 per functionality.
  • Equipment and fixtures will be cleaned during shifts and hand sanitisers will be placed in strategic areas in our facilities.
  • Posters have been put up to create awareness and communicate preventative measures including the hotline for the National Institute for Communicable Disease (NICD).

Click + Collect from our stores
We have implemented the following in our stores:

  • When your parcel is handed over, it will be placed on the counter for you to collect, limiting any direct contact and keeping a safe distance.
  • Hand sanitisers to be made available to all stores for both our people and customers to utilise.
  • Increased the frequency and intensity of cleaning practices in high density and common use areas.
  • Ensured that all equipment is wiped down and cleaned frequently within the store.
  • Encouraged regular hand cleaning when handling cash and facilitating other transaction methods.
  • Informed our staff of effective social distancing methods to be used within the store.

Door to Door deliveries

  • When our couriers arrive at your delivery address, they have been instructed to ring the bell/knock on the door and stand back at a safe distance. The courier will place the item at your door and wait your response.
  • The courier will present you with a handheld device or pad to sign which will be sanitized prior to requesting you to sign.
  • All couriers will carry hand sanitisers and wipes to frequently wipe down their hands and scanners.
  • All courier vehicles are in the process of undergoing a deep clean and have been instructed to sanitize all touch points in the vehicles frequently.
  • Encouraged regular hand cleaning when handling cash and facilitating other transaction methods.
  • All couriers and depot staff have been educated in respect of the Coronavirus, the symptoms, how it spreads and prevention. They have also received training on how to minimise the risk of infection to themselves and our customers.

Customer Care

We will continue to keep you updated should there be any impact to your online orders and delivery. Don’t forget you can track the status of your online orders using our MRP app or on any of our websites. What can you do to help?
